Ketone is a ubiquitous functional group in organic chemistry, and become an attractive choice of directing groups and substrates due to their prevalence in various molecules and versatile reactivity as synthetic intermediates. In this report, he will discuss recent advances in Transition Metal-catalyzed Ketone-based C-H Bonds Transformations. First, a formal ketone©\directed palladium©\catalyzed ortho©\hydroxylation of arenes will be introduced as an effective approach to access o©\acylphenols from simple arylketones. Second, he will focus on the development of a ketone alpha-alkylation strategy using simple olefins as the alkylating agents. This strategy employs a bifunctional catalyst comprising a secondary amine and a low-valent rhodium complex. At last, he will introduce some other works related to energy and material currently being conducted in his group.
